The Bell County Expo Center is getting a facelift.
The 25-year-old facility originally opened to provide space for the popular Bell County Youth fair, but since then, it has hosted the likes of ZZ Top, George Strait and 3 Doors Down.
The Center hosts hundreds of events throughout the year and officials say a new aluminum roof will add to the center's appeal.
While it can host a huge range of events, each event is really about supporting local communities.
"We do a lot of different kinds of events and we're very proud of that,” Executive Director Tim Stephens said. “But everything we do has to do with quality of life and economic impact."
Nearby Belton sees the center as a key tool to help the city grow.
"It also gives us something to market as an economic development corporation,” Cynthia Hernandez, director of the Belton Economic Development Corporation, said. “We're working to recruit businesses. They want to know there are amenities in our community for their employees once they locate here."
The Expo Center has been the setting for many memories.
"When you're reminiscing and looking back at your photo album. I'm sure probably every family has some photo that took place at the Bell County Expo Center," Hernandez said.
The Expo Center hosts graduations for local high schools. Seven separate graduations will take place through this Sunday.
